 20 ml Vinegar
 1 tbsp Granulated sugar
 15 tsp Salt
 150 ml Vegetable oil

The main advantage of this dish is that the bones in the fish are absolutely not felt.
Any small fish can be used in this recipe. To make the fish tasty, be sure to observe the proportions of the ingredients.
I've never cooked whitefish with this recipe before. Usually whitefish is boiled in spices or fried. However, this recipe is delicious and can be stored in jars for the winter as a canned fish.

Cooking whitefish in tomato sauce

To prepare this recipe, we bought fresh whitefish, 3 pieces weighing 800 grams.

Clean fish from scales and entrails. Prepare, clean and wash the rest of the ingredients.

Cut off the heads in this dish, they are superfluous. Remove the fins and tail of the fish.

Cut the fish into pieces as shown in the photo, 4–5 cm long.

Chop the peeled onion. Grate the carrots on a coarse grater.

Let's start making tomato sauce. To do this, stir the tomato paste in a 1: 1 ratio with warm water. We have 400 g of tomato paste and 400 ml of water.
Add vegetable oil - 150ml to the tomato mixture, salt - 1.5 tsp, vinegar - 1 tbsp, granulated sugar - 1 tbsp salt - 1.5 tsp.

Stir the tomato sauce well and pour exactly half into a thick-walled saucepan. It is in such a pan that fish in a tomato should be boiled.

Add grated carrots and chopped onions to the saucepan. Stir and add 4 bay leaves.

Next, put pieces of fish on top of the bay leaves and pour over the second half of the cooked tomato sauce.
Do not stir.

Cover the saucepan with fish in tomato paste and put on low heat.

As soon as the fish starts to boil, reduce the heat to the lowest possible. The boil should be noticeable during cooking.

Do not open the lid until the end of cooking.
The cooking time for fish in tomato sauce is exactly 3 hours from the moment of boiling.

After 3 hours, turn off the heat, but do not open the pan yet. Let the finished fish cool in a covered saucepan.
That's it, whitefish in tomato sauce is ready. Mashed potatoes are best served as a side dish.
