Slices of meat in vegetable oil until a beautiful crust.
Transfer to a saucepan, add water to barely cover the meat, bring to a boil and continue to cook under a lid over low heat.

Salt, pepper, seasonings and herbs can be added.

If someone likes thick gravy, then add flour to the gravy.
